OnlyFans or Only Traps? How To Break Out With Blockchain
From survival hustles to sustainable freedom ~ DeFi isn’t just tech, it’s rewriting the rules of money + control.
Dear friends,
I want to share something close to my heart. 💔
Growing up in West Virginia, I saw too many people forced into dangerous situations just to survive. Rent. Groceries. Kids. Health care. Bills that don’t stop.
When survival becomes unbearable, many people take whatever option is in front of them ~ even if it’s risky, harmful, or unsustainable ~ out of necessity. For some, that means exploitative work. For others, it’s choices that only pull them deeper into cycles of poverty and shame.
That’s why I believe so strongly in building real alternatives: tools, education, job training, and fair chances that help people move from survival mode into freedom. Whether it’s financial literacy, blockchain empowerment, or simply a supportive community, these aren’t luxuries ~ they’re lifelines. If you’re in a hard place, please know: there is always a way out.
For decades, women have been told their worth lies in their bodies, beauty, and ability to please. Exploitation has followed ~ sometimes by strangers, sometimes by those closest to them. Even today, far too many women remain trapped.
I understand how this happens.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve had seasons where I lost almost everything, starting from scratch again and again. Survival is exhausting. So I can see how people turn to sex work, stripping, or platforms like OnlyFans. Often it’s not about choice ~ it’s about just scraping through.
But here’s a question: what if survival didn’t have to mean sacrificing safety, dignity, or self-worth? What if technology could open new doors?
Blockchain and crypto aren’t magic bullets, but they are powerful tools. Tools that let women take control of their money, cut out exploitative middlemen, and start building independence.
This SheCrypto piece explores the dark side of platforms like OnlyFans, the risks women face, and how blockchain can offer a different path. This is not about judgment ~ it’s about possibilities.
For women stuck in systems that don’t protect them, blockchain can be part of the exit strategy.
Noise off and clarity on,

The Trap of “Fast Money”
Stripping, prostitution, or running an OnlyFans account can provide quick income ~ but at a steep cost.
Exploitation, unsafe working conditions, burnout, and lack of long-term financial security are common. It also affects a woman’s reputation in her community and family as well as her future employablity.
Even platforms that promise empowerment often turn women into products: content is owned, controlled, and monetized by middlemen who take the biggest cut.
It’s a cycle of survival, not freedom.
The Dark Side of OnlyFans: Crime & Exploitation
OnlyFans often sells itself as a platform for empowerment, but research and investigations show a much darker side ~ one that overlaps with crime, coercion, and exploitation.
A 2024 report by the Social Research Lab at the University of Northern Colorado found clear evidence of sex trafficking on OnlyFans, with traffickers controlling accounts and taking profits from victims who were coerced into creating content (University of Northern Colorado, 2024).
Similarly, a Reuters investigation - Enslaved on OnlyFans - documented women who were threatened, abused, and forced by partners to produce sexual videos, sometimes for years (Reuters, 2024).
Non-consensual content is another major problem. Between 2019 and 2023, police across the U.S. logged 128 complaints involving sexual content posted on OnlyFans without permission ~ often by former partners after a breakup (Reuters, March 2024)! Even more disturbing, Reuters also reported 30 cases between 2019 and 2024 where U.S. courts and police identified child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on OnlyFans ~ involving more than 200 explicit videos and images of minors. Some of this content reportedly stayed online for longer than a year (Reuters, December 2024).
OnlyFans itself reported 347 suspected cases of CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in 2023 ~ but outside watchdogs argue that the platform’s paywall structure makes it nearly impossible for law enforcement or researchers to monitor abuse effectively (Reuters, July 2024).
As Follow Money Fight Slavery puts it: OnlyFans has become “a paradise for pimps and predators” (Follow Money Fight Slavery, 2024).
All of this is so sad, so disturbing.
Blockchain as a Way Out
Crypto and blockchain aren’t a magic cure. But they offer real tools to move beyond survival and build independence:
Direct Ownership of Income: With crypto wallets, women don’t have to rely on third-party platforms that skim off earnings or control payouts. “Not your keys, not your coins” means your money stays yours.
Global Access to Work: Freelance platforms built on blockchain allow women to earn in Bitcoin, stablecoins, or other digital assets with no bank approval, no restrictions. From copywriting to coding to digital art, opportunities expand beyond geography.
Financial Privacy & Safety: Unlike OnlyFans or cam sites, which can expose identities (as well as their family’s), blockchain offers ways to transact pseudonymously, giving women more control over what they share publicly.
Wealth-Building Beyond Paychecks: Crypto isn’t just currency ~ it’s an asset class. Women can learn to invest, stake, or earn passive income in DeFi instead of being trapped in paycheck-to-paycheck cycles.
Community & Education: Blockchain spaces are growing communities (like SheCrypto!) that help women learn, share, and rise together ~ flipping the script from exploitation to collaboration.
Crypto Won’t Fix Everything
(But It Can Help)
The transition won’t happen overnight ~ and crypto won’t fix everything.
But every wallet opened, every sat stacked, every community joined is a step away from systems that profit off women’s bodies and toward futures where women profit from their minds, skills, and creativity.
Leaving survival hustles behind isn’t just about income. It’s about reclaiming agency. Blockchain can give women something traditional systems have too often denied: the chance to break cycles of control and build real independence.
Not your body. Not your toy.
Not your keys? Not your freedom.
DYOR. NFA. This is not financial advice, but it is an invitation to explore how blockchain could be an exit strategy ~ and an entry into freedom.
