Meet Ebony Thompson, City Solicitor for the City of Baltimore. She leads the city’s law department while helping drive efforts to modernize property records, address vacant housing, and explore new ways technology can support community revitalization.

Baltimore has faced a long-standing challenge with vacant homes, and the city is now exploring blockchain as a way to create a more efficient and transparent system for tracking property records and ownership (since November 2024). The work is part of a broader effort led by Baltimore City Mayor Brandon M. Scott to tackle vacant housing and invest in neighborhoods across the city.

I first ran into Ebony at a Government Blockchain Association event and was immediately inspired by the work she is doing. It’s exciting to see someone bringing blockchain into real-world public service in such a meaningful way. The SheCrypto team and I are thrilled to be seeing her again this week during DC Blockchain Week at The Digital Chamber’s DC Blockchain Summit, where these conversations will continue.

One of the ideas I especially love, which Baltimore is exploring, is fractional ownership - using blockchain to allow more people to participate in the redevelopment of their neighborhoods rather than simply watching it happen around them.

That intersection of technology and social good is incredibly powerful. It’s also a natural extension of Ebony’s own journey, which blends finance, real estate, and law - a background that uniquely positions her to think about how emerging technologies can serve communities.

While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brown University, she simultaneously served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. She later began her career in New York as a Private Client Group Associate with UBS Global Asset Management, working with international clients on wealth management strategies.

Alongside her work in finance, she also became a private real estate investor, forming partnerships with leading real estate financiers in Maryland and Virginia to help rehabilitate distressed properties and revitalize neighborhoods. She later became an attorney, bringing together her passions for real estate, financial technology, and the law - a combination that now informs her work in government and her approach to innovation.

Today, through Ebony’s leadership and the vision of Mayor Scott, Baltimore is demonstrating how cities can use emerging technologies like blockchain to address real challenges while creating more inclusive opportunities for their communities.

It’s inspiring to see leaders using blockchain not simply as a trend, but as a practical tool for progress.

The petition: why it matters (even if you’ll never hold £20,000 in stablecoins)

One of the biggest policy flashpoints Adriana highlighted is a proposed Bank of England stablecoin cap (discussed as £20,000). Even if that number sounds irrelevant to most people, Adriana’s point was bigger:

This is about choice and competition.

If stablecoins are capped too aggressively too early, it can limit:

• SME adoption of cheaper, faster cross-border payments

• Startup innovation (and job creation)

• The UK’s ability to compete globally as digital finance evolves

The argument from Stand With Crypto is: don’t start by restricting the market before it has a chance to prove itself. Build smart oversight - but keep the door open.

What stood out at Digital Assets Forum 3?

DAF wasn’t just another “tokenization is coming” conference. Adriana said the energy felt like implementation, not experimentation.

Here’s what she and Laura noticed on the ground:

- Institutional appetite is moving from curiosity to integration

The dominant question is no longer if - it’s how (settlement, liquidity, infrastructure, efficiency, and risk controls).

- Policy is no longer theoretical

Regulation is actively shaping what gets built and where capital flows. Adriana summed it up in one of her biggest takeaways:
“Clarity drives capital.”

- The room felt genuinely pan-European

DAF had a broader EU mix than many UK-based events, which matters because digital assets don’t neatly stop at borders - and fragmented rulebooks create friction.

- Builders and institutions are learning each other’s language

Adriana called out something rare: founders speaking in “institutional language,” and institutions increasingly understanding builders. That kind of alignment is how you get real progress.

Women at DAF: visible momentum, still room to grow

Kelly and Laura raised a key observation: DAF had more women in leadership and visible roles than expected.

Adriana’s take:

• Women are more visible, but still likely underrepresented in final decision rooms

• The bigger goal isn’t “more women in crypto” as a headline - it’s more perspectives shaping the future

• She also called out a common confidence gap: women often feel they must be “85% qualified” to step forward, while men may jump in at 40%

Laura added an important reality check: in a sector moving this fast, nobody knows everything. Staying curious and connected is the real advantage.

Adriana’s rapid-fire highlights

What surprised her most at DAF:
How aligned institutions, regulators, and founders felt compared to a year ago.

Conversation theme that will shape what’s next:
Growing seriousness around the consumer voice in policy - not just institutions driving the agenda.

Big misconception she had early on:
That regulators weren’t going to engage at all. Reality: they do want clarity, but they move carefully - and need broader input beyond big players.

Web3 hiring moves fast, job requirements shift constantly, and the “rules” most candidates bring from Web2 don’t always translate. That doesn’t mean you’re not qualified. It usually means you’re playing the wrong game.

In our latest SheCrypto conversation, Laura Suárez León and Kelly Ann Collins sat down with Kseniya Parfenyuk, Talent Acquisition Partner at TON Foundation, a global IT recruiter who has been specializing in Web3 and blockchain talent since 2021.

Kseniya has recruited across agencies, outsourcing, and Web3 product teams ~ including work with P2P.org, 1inch Network, in addition to TON Foundation ~ and she shared exactly what candidates need to know right now.

Here’s what she wants you to understand before you hit “Apply.”

Web3 hiring is different ~ and it starts with pace

According to Kseniya, there are three big differences between hiring in Web3 vs. traditional tech:

1. The pace is insane

Web3 teams move fast, priorities change fast, and job requirements can evolve mid-hiring cycle. In Web2, you might see stable job descriptions for months. In Web3, expectations adjust constantly.

2. Skills shift constantly

New frameworks, SDKs, and tooling appear nonstop. Recruiters aren’t just looking for “experience,” they’re looking for people who can keep learning.

3. Seniority doesn’t mean what you think it means

This one matters: in Web2, “senior” might mean 5–7+ years doing the same thing. In Web3, entire languages and ecosystems can be newer than that.

Kseniya gave a perfect example: TACT, a newer programming language used in the TON ecosystem, simply didn’t exist 5–7 years ago ~ so hiring teams have to assess seniority differently.

Translation: Don’t disqualify yourself because you don’t have a decade in crypto. The space is young. What matters is how you learn, adapt, and build.

The most in-demand roles in Web3 right now

When asked what roles she sees hiring demand for most often, Kseniya broke it into two buckets:

Technical roles (always in demand)

• Software Engineers

• Systems Engineers

• Data Engineers

• Analytics Engineers

• Automation / AI Engineers (increasing demand)

Business-side roles

• Business Development

• Marketing

• DevRel (Developer Relations) ~ the bridge between technical + business teams

If you’re trying to break in: DevRel, marketing, BD, and ecosystem/community roles can be powerful entry points ~ especially if you can show proof of work.

What recruiters actually care about: attitude > “perfect” crypto knowledge

This is the part candidates need to hear louder:

Kseniya’s career began because someone hired her for her attitude ~ not her skills.

And today, she says it’s still true.

Yes, crypto literacy helps. But the difference-maker is often:

• adaptability

• coachability

• curiosity

• communication in global remote environments

• readiness for fast change

The hard part? Showing that in an interview.
Her advice: don’t rely on generic answers. Let your real motivations and thinking show.

What a “great candidate” looks like for a Web3 foundation

Foundations sit in a unique middle ground: they move like startups, but they’re building real structure and long-term processes.

Kseniya described the best candidates as people who can be:

“Open-minded and excited about structuring the chaos.”

You don’t have to love bureaucracy ~ but you do need to be comfortable creating systems and processes inside fast-moving environments.

The biggest candidate mistakes (and how to fix them)

This section was painfully real.

Mistake 1: The 8-page CV

Kseniya said long, unstructured resumes are a deal-breaker. If she has 80 applications to review, she simply can’t read eight pages.

Fix: Keep your CV concise, skimmable, and structured with bullet points.

Mistake 2: Being weirdly formal

The “Dear Sir or Madam, I would be humbled …” style is too much for most Web3 teams.

Fix: Be professional, clear, and human.

Mistake 3: Being too informal (memes are not your strategy)

Yes, Web3 is culture-heavy ~ but it’s still a real job.

Fix: Match the tone of the company and role. Creative roles may allow more personality. Most roles still require a real CV and serious communication.

Mistake 4: Expecting one perfect application to change your life

Her view: volume matters. Applying to 5–10 roles and expecting the dream offer often leads to disappointment.

Fix: Treat applications like a pipeline. Track them. Iterate.

The myth Kseniya wants to kill forever

“Web3 is a gold mine.”

It’s not. Not immediately. And not for most people.

You won’t walk in and get a million-dollar offer “right away.” Companies have expenses, budgets, and real hiring constraints ~ especially in volatile markets.

The best approach is long-term: build skills, build proof of work, build relationships.

Safety first: how to avoid job scams in Web3

This was one of the most practical tips in the entire conversation.

Before you apply:

1. Assume scams exist (because they do).

2. Verify the job is real via the company’s official website/careers page.

3. Apply through official links whenever possible.

4. If you don’t hear back after some time, reach out to a recruiter on LinkedIn to confirm you’re in the system.

A surprising interview red flag: candidates using AI to answer live

Kseniya shared a growing issue: candidates using AI tools in interviews to generate answers in real time ~ then reading them off-screen.

She can tell.

The giveaway is often that answers become:

• too generic

• oddly “perfect”

• slightly irrelevant or vague

• disconnected from the candidate’s actual experience

Her advice: Don’t outsource your personality. Web3 hiring is still human. It’s about trust.

The #1 tool she recommends for building a Web3 career

LinkedIn.

Yes, really.

Kseniya has ~24,000 connections and still considers it one of the most powerful platforms for Web3 hiring and visibility — especially because many Web3 candidates don’t use it enough.

Her suggestion:

• build your network intentionally

• follow Web3 hiring leaders and ecosystem builders

• show consistent signals of interest and competence over time

Advice for women: stop questioning your worth

This moment hit.

Kseniya’s message to women who feel intimidated or “not qualified”:

• Stop underestimating yourself.

• Don’t question your capability.

• Support each other more.

She also pointed out that women’s participation in tech-heavy roles is still far too low ~ and it doesn’t have to stay that way.

The gap Web3 still needs to close: DEI can’t be an afterthought

Kseniya was direct: many Web3 companies still aren’t addressing discrimination (across gender, race, ethnicity, orientation, identity, chronic conditions, and more) with the seriousness it requires.

In her view, Web3 teams should invest in:

• training

• best-practice hiring systems

• proactive culture building

Inclusion isn’t a “later” project. It’s foundational.

When Fidelity suggested that one Bitcoin could be worth $1 billion by 2038, the internet reacted with a mix of disbelief, excitement, and confusion. Headlines focused on the number itself ~ but missed the more interesting question underneath:

If Fidelity were even partially right, how much Bitcoin would someone actually need to retire?

For many women, especially those historically excluded from early wealth-building opportunities, the answer may be far more approachable than expected.

Why Fidelity’s Bitcoin Thesis Matters

Fidelity’s long-term outlook on Bitcoin is based on several core ideas:

• Bitcoin’s fixed supply of 21 million coins

• Growing institutional and global adoption

• Its potential role as a store of value in an increasingly digital economy

This is not a price prediction or a promise. It’s a thought experiment that asks us to imagine how scarcity and adoption might play out over decades ~ not months.

And thinking long-term changes the math.

You Don’t Need a Whole Bitcoin

One of the biggest myths around Bitcoin is that you need to own one full coin to participate. In reality, Bitcoin is divisible into 100 million units called satoshis, meaning you can own very small fractions.

Based on Bitcoin’s value today (approximately $88,000 per BTC):

• 0.001 BTC ≈ $88

• 0.005 BTC ≈ $440

• 0.01 BTC ≈ $880

These amounts are comparable to everyday expenses ~ yet they represent ownership in a scarce digital asset. For many women, especially those just beginning their financial education journey, this accessibility matters.

What “Retirement” Usually Means

Traditional retirement planning often aims for $2–5 million in assets, depending on lifestyle, location, and support systems. Using that familiar framework, we can explore how Bitcoin might factor into long-term financial independence ~ purely as a hypothetical exercise.

Scenario 1: Bitcoin Reaches $1 Million Per Coin

This is a commonly discussed long-term scenario among institutional analysts.

• 1 BTC → $1,000,000

• 2.5 BTC → $2,500,000

• 5 BTC → $5,000,000

In this case, Bitcoin could meaningfully contribute to retirement, but it would likely be part of a broader financial picture.

Scenario 2: Bitcoin Reaches $1 Billion Per Coin (Fidelity’s Headline Scenario)

This is where the numbers become striking:

• 0.001 BTC → $1,000,000

• 0.005 BTC → $5,000,000

• 0.01 BTC → $10,000,000

• 0.1 BTC → $100,000,000

In this hypothetical future, fractions of Bitcoin purchased at today’s prices could represent retirement-level wealth, or more.

Again, this is not a prediction. It’s a way to understand how scarcity and long-term adoption could amplify even small amounts.

The Real Question Isn’t Price … It’s Access

No one knows where Bitcoin’s price will land. Fidelity’s thesis is not about certainty, it’s about possibility.

The more meaningful question is:

What does it mean to give more women access to financial tools early ~ before outcomes are decided?

For many in the SheCrypto community, Bitcoin isn’t about speculation. It’s about:

• financial literacy

• optionality

• understanding systems early rather than being priced out later

Why Long-Term Thinking Favors Participation

Historically, the biggest gains in Bitcoin didn’t go to people who traded perfectly. They went to people who:

• started with what they could afford

• avoided leverage

• held through volatility

• learned as they went

From that perspective, holding 0.001–0.01 BTC at today’s prices isn’t about overnight wealth. It’s about being part of the conversation ~ and the system ~ early.

What to Do in Business, Personal Relationships, and Web3

• Watch behavior before you commit

  • Notice follow-through, not enthusiasm

  • Early missed deadlines, vague answers, or shifting expectations rarely disappear later

  • In crypto, we call this reading the on-chain data ~ do the same off-chain

• Put structure in place early

  • Use written agreements, clear scopes, timelines, and expectations

  • In personal relationships, this looks like explicit communication and mutual accountability

  • Structure protects trust ~ it doesn’t undermine it

• Treat boundaries like smart contracts

  • Clear terms prevent confusion, resentment, and exploitation

  • If someone resists clarity, ask yourself who benefits from the ambiguity

  • That flexibility becomes unpaid labor when systems aren’t mutual

  • You are allowed to require reciprocity

• Trust your intuition as data

  • Discomfort is information

  • If something feels off before you can articulate why, pause

  • In crypto, ignoring red flags leads to rug pulls ~ life is no different

• Exit cleanly when the signal is clear

  • Not every relationship or partnership needs to be repaired

  • Walking away doesn’t require drama, justification, or consensus

  • Leaving with integrity is a form of leadership

• Build where respect compounds

  • Good relationships create momentum, safety, and growth

  • Bad ones drain energy and distort your sense of worth

  • Choose environments where professionalism is mutual and consistent

Keep Your Circle Tight

Growth doesn’t require access to everyone.
It requires alignment with a few.

As your responsibility, visibility, and impact increase, your circle should get smaller ~ not larger.

Here’s what that looks like in practice.

• Choose depth over access

  • A couple of trusted relationships outperform dozens of loose connections

  • In business and crypto, too many voices dilute judgment and slow decision-making

• Limit who gets proximity to your energy

  • Not everyone needs updates, explanations, or emotional access

  • Information is leverage ~ share it intentionally

• Cut ties to conserve energy

  • If a relationship consistently drains you, confuses you, or requires over-explaining, it’s costing you more than time

  • Conservation is not cruelty ~ it’s sustainability

• Separate collaboration from closeness

  • Not every partner is a confidant

  • In crypto especially, blending access and trust too quickly increases risk

• Protect your inner circle like private keys

  • A small number of people should have real insight into your plans, vulnerabilities, and next moves

  • If you wouldn’t give them custody of your assets, don’t give them custody of your peace

• Let silence do some of the work

  • You don’t need to announce boundaries or justify distance

  • Reduced access is often clearer than confrontation

• Understand that exits create clarity

  • Cutting ties makes room for aligned relationships to strengthen

  • In life, business, and Web3, fewer ~ stronger ~ connections outperform constant expansion

How to Handle Stress When Relationships or Markets Don’t Align

Misalignment is stressful because it creates friction between what is and what you hoped would be. The goal isn’t to eliminate stress ~ it’s to respond without self-betrayal.

Here’s how to handle it with clarity and control:

• Name misalignment early

  • Stress often comes from prolonging situations that no longer fit

  • Whether it’s a relationship, a client, or a market cycle ~ clarity reduces emotional drag

• Separate signal from noise

  • In crypto, volatility doesn’t always mean danger ~ but sustained weakness is a signal

  • In relationships, temporary conflict differs from consistent misalignment

  • Respond to patterns, not spikes

• Regulate before you decide

  • Don’t make major decisions from activation or fear

  • Step back, slow communication, and give yourself time to stabilize

  • Calm creates leverage

• Reduce exposure instead of forcing alignment

  • You don’t have to “fix” everything

  • Scale back emotional, financial, or operational exposure where alignment is weak

  • Risk management applies to people and markets alike

• Control what you can

  • Your boundaries

  • Your capital allocation

  • Your calendar and attention

  • Stress decreases when you focus on variables within your control

• Avoid over-explaining

  • Misaligned situations often pull women into justification mode

  • Clear decisions don’t require excessive narrative

  • “This no longer works for me” is complete

• Accept timing without self-blame

  • Not every relationship or market is wrong ~ some are simply out of season

  • Exit without resentment or revisionist storytelling

• Protect your nervous system like infrastructure

  • Chronic stress clouds judgment and weakens intuition

  • Rest, distance, and routine are strategic ~ not indulgent

• Anchor to long-term integrity

  • Short-term discomfort is preferable to long-term depletion

  • Alignment isn’t about comfort ~ it’s about sustainability

How to Move

We don’t build on hope alone.
We build on clarity.

We verify trust before we extend it.
We set boundaries before resentment forms.
We keep our circles small enough to protect our energy ~ and strong enough to support real growth.

When relationships strain, markets shift, or alignment disappears, we don’t panic.
We pause.
We reduce exposure.
We listen to the data ~ on-chain and off.

We understand that not everything is meant to last.
Some relationships, partnerships, and market cycles are temporary ~ and recognizing that early is a strength, not a failure.

We walk away cleanly when the signal is clear.
We conserve our energy for what compounds.
We choose integrity over intensity.

In business, in relationships, and in crypto, the principle is the same:

Don’t trust blindly. Verify.
Don’t overextend. Protect.

Co-hosted by Laura Suárez León, livestreaming from the Dominican Republic, and Kelly Ann Collins, founder of SheCrypto, Women In Blockchain and Unstoppable Future Corporation in Washington, D.C., the episode featured Maryna Barysheva, CEO of LKI Consulting, joining from Dubai.

Maryna has been in crypto since 2016 ~ long before it was trendy ~ founding one of Europe’s first crypto marketing agencies and helping 260+ Web3 projects acquire real users, launch tokens, and scale. She’s worked with industry leaders including Binance and Bybit, and she’s seen every market cycle up close.

Her message was clear ~ the hype era is over ~ execution wins now.

Web3 Marketing Has Grown Up

In earlier cycles, projects could survive on narratives and speculation. “Build it and they will come” sometimes worked. Today, it doesn’t.

According to Maryna, founders now need to think like real operators ~ validate demand, build toward product-market fit, and invest in distribution ~ not just token launches. Tokens are tools, not proof of success.

The First Red Flag Isn’t Marketing ~ It’s the Team

When Maryna evaluates a project, she looks at the team first, not the pitch deck.

Strong teams move fast, trust experts, and make decisions without endless revisions. Many Web3 founders, she explained, are great builders ~ but weak operators. Without execution, no amount of marketing can save a project.

Stop Chasing Narratives ~ Focus on Utility

One of Maryna’s strongest points: narratives don’t last like they used to. What once played out over years now burns out in months.

Instead of trend-hopping, she recommends focusing on real utility ~ especially where Web3 intersects with institutional needs. Areas like payments, stablecoins, digital asset infrastructure, and real-world assets are gaining traction because they solve actual problems.

A simple test she shared ~ if your own team can’t explain in 60 seconds why your project needs a token, AI, or RWA, the market won’t believe you, either.

Token Launches ~ Know Your Audience (All Three of Them)

Maryna emphasized that founders often fail because they treat their audience as one group. In reality, there are three:

~ Followers ~ consume updates and narratives
~ Users ~ care about product and utility
~ Traders ~ care about price and liquidity

Successful launches plan for all three separately. Treating them as one “community” leads to misaligned expectations ~ and bad launches.

People Will Always Sell ~ Plan for It

One hard truth Maryna shared ~ you can’t stop people from selling.

What you can do is build a strong post-Token Generation Event (TGE) strategy ~ clear product updates, partnerships, and milestones that give holders confidence. In Web3, she said, there’s no better marketing than a green candle ~ but it has to be backed by real progress.

Community Isn’t About Numbers ~ It’s About Belonging

Web3 loves vanity metrics, but Maryna challenged founders to stop chasing massive user counts with no engagement.

People don’t stay because of quests or payouts. They stay because they feel aligned, understood, and valued. Community isn’t a growth hack ~ it’s a trust relationship.

Advice for Women Building in Web3

As a woman leading a major Web3 agency, Maryna’s advice was refreshingly direct ~ focus on becoming exceptional at what you do.

Invest in your personal brand, build long-term relationships, give before you take, and stop comparing yourself to others. The space is big enough ~ and strong work still speaks loudest.

This is one of the coolest, most “wait, what?!” ideas I’ve come across in a long time, and honestly, it might just change how we think about saving, borrowing, and protecting our families in a blockchain world.

Imagine being able to borrow against your Bitcoin, grow it tax-free, and still have a life insurance policy that pays out in BTC. It’s part financial revolution, part “why didn’t this exist sooner,” and it’s catching on fast.

Meanwhile has just closed an impressive $82 million funding round, co-led by Haun Ventures and Bain Capital Crypto, with additional participation from Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Stillmark. Support from both crypto-native and traditional financial institutions shows just how quickly Bitcoin is being embraced as the backbone for mainstream financial products.

In total, Meanwhile has now raised a total of $122 million in 2025, building on a $40 million Series A earlier this year co-led by Framework Ventures and Fulgur Ventures.

For those who’ve been following our journey, SheCrypto partnered with EBC earlier this year to bring more visibility and opportunity to women in blockchain. We ran a special ticket giveaway to encourage our community members to attend Europe’s largest blockchain event ~ and it was amazing to see the enthusiasm from across the globe.

Laura Suárez León represented SheCrypto and Unstoppable Future’s Women In Blockchain initiative at the event, connecting with innovators, investors, and leaders shaping the future of Web3.

One of the standout connections Laura made during EBC11 was with Louise Macfarlane, a true powerhouse.

Louise, recently recognized as Web3 Woman of the Year (New Zealand), is a leader known for guiding teams and brands through the fast-evolving world of crypto and Web3.

At Easy Crypto, New Zealand’s largest cryptocurrency brokerage, Louise led global customer operations, building strategies rooted in empathy, education, and empowerment. She collaborated across product, compliance, and engineering to align on key business initiatives while keeping the customer at the heart of every decision.

Her leadership style is all about creating connection ~ both internally and externally ~ and she’s a shining example of how women are leading not just technically, but culturally, in the Web3 space.

A Quick Recap of EBC11

EBC11 was full of innovation and collaboration. With approximately 5,000 delegates, 300+ speakers, and 10,000+ 1:1 meetings, it truly was the heart of the blockchain world this year. From DeFi and AI to digital assets and sustainable tech, the conversations were electric.

When people discuss Web3 adoption, the spotlight almost always goes to venture funding, tokenomics, and protocol innovation ~ but the infrastructure of understanding is what actually determines whether the technology succeeds in real communities. Legal frameworks, accessible education, and “how-to” knowledge bridges are the difference between a movement and a market.

Jacqui Cooper, J.D., really stands out in that sense.

Known widely as “CryptoMom2,” she sits at the intersection of policy, practice, and public education.

A Partner at Cogent Law Group LLP, CEO of the Maryland Blockchain Association, CEO of the Blockchain Legal Institute, Director of Legal/Communications at DARA, and the author behind the Bitcoin Cinderella series, Jacqui is helping families, students, corporations, government and newcomers.

This week, I am excited to see Jacqui at the Future of Money, Governance & the Law (FoMGL) event in Washington, D.C. But first ~ I wanted to dive into her incredible career, and the heart behind her mission to make blockchain for everyone.

From Curiosity to Infrastructure

Jacqui’s path threads law, education, and entrepreneurship.

“I’ve been in the blockchain space over 10 years. I started almost by accident after a conversation in Scotland,” she said. “Once I realized the technology was broader than cryptocurrency, I went deep.”

Early curiosity led to a talk show, books, and ultimately the Blockchain Legal Institute (BLI) ~ her answer to a gap: a single place to keep pace with fast-moving rules, standards, and best practices.

“The Blockchain Legal Institute is a centralized library of decentralized resources - virtual events, global summits, publications, and news,” she said. “We’re librarians for the ecosystem, constantly updating, researching, and sharing back.”

BLI engages student volunteers, runs hackathons with industry partners, and publishes guidance to help professionals and consumers keep up as laws evolve.

Why “CryptoMom2”?

Jacqui’s moniker nods to SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce ~ dubbed “Crypto Mom” by the media ~ while reflecting Jacqui’s own identity as a single parent and educator.

“The philosophy behind this space ~ economic freedom and non-traditional paths ~ resonated,” she said. “I want to model following your passion and supporting others’ dreams.”

That emphasis on family and continuity drove another project: the Essential Digital Asset Organizer ~ a write-in workbook for attorneys, clients, and founders.

“Our digital assets aren’t just Bitcoin or NFTs,” she noted. “They include domains, SaaS subscriptions, social accounts. Continuity matters for families and co-founders.”

Maryland as a Testbed

From her base in Maryland, Jacqui launched the Maryland Blockchain Association, now supported by a statewide task force with legislators, agencies, and universities.

“The purpose is to foster a growing environment ~ support builders, spotlight useful products and services, and educate the curious,” she said.

Practical Advice for Newcomers

Her starter playbook is grounded and clear:

• Separate the layers. “Crypto runs on blockchain, but blockchain has many uses beyond tokens ~ think supply chain and business data.”

• Do the homework. “Use multiple independent sources and understand what you can lose.”

• Match tech to goals. “Not every protocol fits every project. Fees, performance, and market conditions affect long-term budgets.”

• Ask questions. “This community is welcoming. None of us knows everything ~ we’re all still learning.”

Hi, friends!

Someone recently told me they saw my name pop up online ~ listed among the top women in crypto in some AI searches. I mean, I know I am shaping things over here but I didn’t expect the interweb robots to know it yet!

So, I laughed ~ despite knowing I have been involved with lots of amazing Web3 groups and projects (Unblocked, InfiniteWorld, Shiba Inu), and that I have been a member of the Decentraland community (and dancing there!!) for many years while writing about women in Web3, hosting events, and being featured for, Web3, the metaverse, and NFTs in the past. I even co-founded the first metaverse news platform (Into The Meta).

Unfortunately, that is what we women tend to do … we play down and discredit our experience sometimes ~ even where there is a lot of it!

After those moments of imposter-syndrome confusion - lol - I opened Google. And sure enough, there I was, along with lots of really cool women! I am actually not sure how the AI searches work, or if only my friends and colleagues are seeing it. But, I’ll take it!

This little discovery was fun + it also sparked an idea: why not turn this into a empowering article? Because, while it was pretty surreal to see myself popping up on some AI results, what really inspired me was reading about so many incredible women leading the way in Web3 (yessss!!) ~ founders, investors, coders, educators, and creators all shaping the decentralized future in bold new ways. There are lots of us ~ and we are not getting enough exposure!

So I dug into who’s making impacts this year, and curated this list of Top 20 Women in Crypto & Web3 to Follow in 2025 ~ including, yes, yours truly … but I put myself last. 😉
